Daiko Japanese Restaurant

We had a fabulous sushi and miso soup. I highly recommend this place. When we first arrived, they brought us out warm hand towels, which was a very nice touch.

We love this place, it's among a precious few restaurants that we keep returning to, as we know that a lovely dining experience is guaranteed. The atmosphere is very sweet, Jerry San is an excellent host who makes everyone feel at home and remembers his repeat customers and makes us feel like family. The service is always fantastic, everything is very reasonably priced, and the food, well, I can't eat sushi anyplace else now that I've had this very best that New Haven county has to offer. No matter what you order here, your satisfaction is assured in this impeccable dining establishment.

Awesome sushi

If you love sushi go to Jerry Sans Daiko. Start with the seaweed salad and edimani then choose from a myriad of entrees either cooked, sushi, or sashimi. Lunch and dinner are consistently excellent and the professional staff never disappoints.

Great sushi and quick service always with a smile. You really gotta hand it to Jerry-san, that guy can whip up some crazy rolls that still taste delicious.

This is perhaps the best place for sushi in and around New Haven. They are generous with their portion sizes, quite inexpensive, and appear to use very fresh ingredients. I've always had both a good dine-in and carry-out experience

It always seems as though everyone in this place is having so much fun, especially guests at the bar. There is definitely good mood in the air. Service is friendly, the owner and chef is always there entertaining. If I had to rate the sushi separately it would probably be a 3.5 out of 5 - in regards to creativity, size, flavor and ratio of filling to rice; but the experience overall is great so will keep coming back

It was terrific! The sushi was simple exquisite, beautifully prepared, and delicious. Once you have that first bite it's like tasting a little bit of heaven. I highly recommend going to Daiko.

Easily the best sushi in Connecticut. I find myself not wanting to go anywhere else when I'm in the mood for sushi!

This is the best sushi in the area! We've been eating at Daiko for many years and always love it. Jerry Sans is very friendly and makes a special point to know you, as does the staff. The ambience is great, with hundreds of origami cranes strung along the ceiling and just as many Polaroid photos depicting people celebrating their birthday at Daiko. We especially love the spicy salmon hand rolls and always have a sake bomb!

Been here a couple times and the fish is always so fresh and the service is attentive. Very refreshing atmosphere, as well. One of the best sushi spots in the area.

Fresh and delicious!

Came here to try a new sushi place because of all the reviews. The atmosphere was somewhat friendly, it threw me off that when I asked for a water with lemon, he corrected me and said "water with ice". I overlooked it by looking forward for my steamed dumplings, and like the rest of the food, it was overrated, small portioned, and mostly tasteless. Not the best, but not the worst.

Had a nice time here. The food was very good and the waiters were super attentive.

First time coming here and let me me tell you this place is Excellent! . I Had the Spider Roll Sushi and it had a very nice soft texture with lightly crisp fried crab inside. I Highly recommend this place for everyone for those sushi lovers out there. Thanks!

The sushi is terrific. Had several rolls that were really fresh and tasty. The Wasabi Shumai were good but was expecting more. Give it a try and do. Do not let the outside scare you off.

No one goes there anymore - it's too crowded - that, and one person can not expected to serve an entire dining room. It's a shame, cause the sushi is quite good...but sushi is not sustainable. So why do we eat it.

Best sushi around. Service is always amazing and the staff is very friendly. I’ve been eating here for years and they never let me down.

Small place with big taste. The sushi chef knows what hes doing. My only complaint was the server not being attentive. Kept having to ask him for stuff that he should have been on top of. But don't let that discourage you from giving them a shot.

Never a bad meal here. A gem of a place. Jerry San is the best at his craft. Always puts out top quality. Wonderfully nice staff. Have been going there for over a decade and travel 25 plus miles to get my sushi fix. The spider roll and unagi dinner are the bomb!!!! Everything super fresh.

This place offers superb service as well as delicious menu. One of the best restaurant around town. The food served fast and the rates are inexpensive. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.

I love this place! They prepare first-cleass food, their menu is varied, The chief cook in that restaurant is very trained, I love a lot eating all their food. The dishes are always fresh, the attitude towards the visitors is friendly. I often go to this restaurant and I was never discontended. Highly recommended.

A good selection of more exotic sushi but failed to execute them well. The place itself is very nice; the atmosphere, the service is phenominal but if you're looking specifically for great sushi this might not be the place.

Best sushi in the New Haven area. Not only is the food great but Jerry, Jimmy, and their whole staff are very kind and treat you like family. You have to try their spicy mussels or hand rolls when you're there. My favorite restaurant atmosphere.

Absolutely the best Sushi in the New Haven area. The service and atmosphere is second to none. I particularly like the Hand Rolls, Eel Avocado and Spicy Scallop being my very best favourites. Can't say enough about how I love this place. Stop by if you dare because once you visit you will find it hard to find a reason not to stop by once, twice or three times a week.

Absolutely AMAZING sushi! Service was fast, friendly, and always made sure we had our drinks full as we were crushing the wasabi.

Very good value for the price, incredible Sushi, several authentic Japanese beer options, and lots of non sushi options for those who can't handle the raw fish. I'd go again but it's a bit far from Pennsylvania.

Hands down.....the best sushi you will ever have. Period. You will go other places and they will never live up to Jerry's. You will keep coming back and appreciate Daiko even more. Also, Jerry San is one of the nicest persons you will ever meet. A genuine sushi master. A down to earth joyful person. Try the crunchy spice tuna roll. Try the Jimmy roll. Keep trying and trying....you will not be disappointed. Have a hand roll with Jerry at the bar. Enjoy!
